Mr Austin Steffen

Austin Steffen is the co-founder of Neurogether Ventures LLC. He is also a highly motivated master’s degree student at the University of North Dakota where he is pursuing CPA eligibility. During his undergraduate degree in finance at the University of North Dakota, Austin served as an Associate, Managing Director of Marketing, and Chairperson at Dakota Venture Group, the nation’s first fully-student run venture capital firm. Here he managed over twenty five startups between two portfolios, started a committee to exit a portfolio, structured a new for-profit fund, applied for and won a non-profit grant, raised capital from LPs, hosted investor, advisor, and alumni events for over two hundred individuals, screened hundreds of startups, orchestrated due diligences, negotiated investment terms, assisted other universities with the creation of their student fund, served as an observing board member to a portfolio company, represented the fund on the Center for Innovation board, spoke at UND Alumni Association and Foundation board meetings and events, completed a fellowship with a Colorado-based PE firm, and much more. Austin has further entrepreneurial experience while operating his own construction contracting company with two partners, eight employees, and various subcontractors, general contractors, and home developers. From a different startup in the clean energy industry, he has experience in governmental grant writing as well. In a third startup, Austin showed the founders an alternative business model which they quickly change to before introductions were made for further pitches. Lastly, he has helped review, and offer feedback to various founders in the gBeta program. As a student, Austin managed the student managed investment fund, taught classes how to structure their pitch decks, served in the student government on the Legislative Affairs and Budget Restructuring and Allocation committee, participated in the mentorship program with a partner of a private equity fund as his mentor, and much more.
